As a board member, to focus additional efforts towards projects that would address overlooked problems with worn roads and clogged storm drains, improve under-served areas, beautify well-traveled areas, raise historical awareness of the neighborhood, increase our local and digital outreach, and organize seasonal events for the people of Winnetka.

And to uphold the mission of neighborhood councils: "To promote more citizen participation in government and make government more responsive to local needs."

Involved in community organizations, including the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce, and local and civic groups along with being a member of the governing council of 3 public schools including an elementary, middle, and high school.
 
Goals:   My goal for the Winnetka Neighborhood Council is to advocate for our community to local, county, and state political and other organizations and to those appropriate officials such as for policing and public works, to use its budget to assist with community public needs such as for traffic relief, and to advocate for and to assist community youth programs primarily through schools such as for library books and through park and recreation centers such as for sponsoring safe Halloween parties.

JJ is a member of the Winnetka Neighborhood Watch, a Red Cross Disaster Services volunteer, a member of Councilmember Zine's P.O.S.S.E, a member of the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce, a former Battalion Coordinator for the LAFD Community Emergency Response Team, and a former Executive Board member of the Valley Alliance of Neighborhood Councils.
 
Goals:   My goal is to improve Winnetka by taking an active role in the community and the city. "I truly believe that if we can get the community to come to us and bring their problems to us, we can work with them and the City to make a difference. Only through community involvement will we be able to keep our community a safe, prosperous, and fun place to live".

Background:   I have worked as an elementary school teacher in Winnetka for the last 20 years. Eight of those years were served as the school’s coordinator where I had many opportunities to interact with parents and community stakeholders as a leader and active member of parent advisory and school site councils. I am a strong advocate for children and have served as a board member for 11 years for One Circle, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the community about child abuse.
Goals:   .My goal is to continue to be involved in my community as a board member of the Winnetka Neighborhood Council. I will advocate for changes to improve neighborhood safety, to support local businesses, and to provide learning and recreational activities for the youth of Winnetka.
