Background:
In my professional career, I am the Training and Development Manager for a Residential Mortgage Lender. Throughout my many years in the industry, I have gained tremendous professional growth in the leadership capacity. My years of experience have taught me integral problem solving skills, conflict resolution and how to see projects through from start to finish no matter the size. My leadership skills also extend beyond my professional career where I am on the Board of Directors for my Toastmasters International club and am a small business owner. Being active in programs outside of my career are critical as I continue to increase my skills and service the community as a volunteer.
Goals:
Today, as a resident of Winnetka I envision that service on Neighborhood Council will be an exciting opportunity to learn more about public concerns, improvement plans, and how to take action for the overall well-being of the community.

Additionally, to work on improving blighted areas that require community revitalization and help to implement traffic calming measures and advocate addressing infrastructure issues related to sidewalks, streets and storm drains. Areas that I have focused on as a homeowner already and intend to increase involvement with are graffiti removal, tree trimming and educating people regarding e-waste & bulky trash item pickup.

Matt Gregorchuk

Titles:
Board Member
Term Ends:
2020
Background:
My family has been apart of the Valley for most of my life. I remember after the Northridge earthquake helping my father pick up block walls and rebuilding damaged homes when school was out. My wife and I live and work in Winnetka. We love the unique balance of urban and suburban life that the valley offers. From our apartment we can walk to restaurants, or drive to the hills off Topanga Canyon. We love the way there are tree covered side streets between large boulevards. The city is always changing and growing, our neighborhood council is a vital part of that process. This neighborhood is our community and is full of individuals in which we share a common truth. A truth that we want a safe, prosperous community, that is a blessing to our family, our friends, neighbors, and to those that visit our neighborhood.

John Poer

Titles:
At Large Board Member
Term Ends:
2020
Stakeholder Type:
Homeowner
Profession:
Retired
Background:
My background is mostly a 40 year career in the entertainment business. I started working in live theatre in college as a lighting and sound designer; I spent a summer at La Jolla Playhouse as a member of the stage crew; and entered the film industry in California in 1965 as an electrician at Paramount Studios. I spent most of my working career as an Assistant Director, managing the planning and filming of film television series, mini-series, and feature films all over the Los Angeles area and also in other parts of the US and Canada. Carolyn, my wife, and I moved to Winnetka in 1971 and still live in the same home we bought new. We have two grown girls, one of then still lives in Winnetka. We were both active in the Girl Scouts when they were young, and are still supporting members. (Carolyn is still very active in the Scouts). We both currently support and volunteer at the Motion Picture Television Fund campus in Woodland Hills. I have a solid working knowledge of photography, sound, computers, and computer graphics.
Goals:
The work in the film industry is erratic, and arranging to be a member of a committee, club, or community service organization is difficult, because you can not guarantee ever to be available. Now that I am retired, I hope to be able to return something to the community I have enjoyed for 43 years. Carolyn and I have watched Winnetka grow and change over the years; many of the changes are good, some are not. I hope to be influential in helping improve the city, and to work with others who wish to preserve the lifestyle that brought us here in 1971. We like Winnetka, and want to work for its benefit. I think serving on Winnetka Neighborhood Council is a great opportunity to approach that goal.
