The Winnetka Neighborhood Council is currently seeking community members to fill three vacant council seats. Board members are required to attend one monthly board meeting and strongly encouraged to actively participate in one of the WNC Committees.

The Winnetka Neighborhood Council voted unanimously to support the Grocery Outlet development project at the December 2019 board meeting and welcomes the Grocery Outlet to our neighborhood!
The application will be open for five (5) days, starting at 8 AM on July 13th, and closing at 11:59 PM on July 17, 2020. After the application deadline, all applications submitted by 11:59 PM July 17th will be included in the random selection process. The subsidy is anticipated to assist an estimated 50,000 Los Angeles households. It will provide a grant of up to $1,000 per month, with a maximum grant of $2,000 per household, and will be paid directly to the tenant’s landlord on behalf of the tenant.
The Winnetka Neighborhood Council is pleased to announce that we voted unanimously to support plans for the new Grocery Outlet in place of the old Fallas store at Sherman Way and Corbin and that the store just opened July 2. Check it out!

The first phase of work will start for the Metro Orange Line (MOL) Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Improvements Project. The proposed pre-construction activities are to include but not limited to potholing, trenching and pavement restoration. This activity will begin on Monday, March 23, 2020 through Saturday, April 11, 2020 (intermittently), during daytime hours from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

The dead end alley just north of Roscoe and west of Mason has suffered from persistent encampments negatively impacting surrounding homeowners and businesses. A mitigation plan is afoot to privatize the alley.
There is a new high visibility, flashing pedestrian crosswalk on Winnetka Ave. at Lanark St. This "Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon" is the first in the Valley. Keep an eye out and stop for pedestrians at every crosswalk.

As an established, trusted joint powers entity, the MRCA will have full enforcement capabilities that cross jurisdictions. The MRCA would take responsibility for the river environment in this pilot program to patrol the area, enforce relevant ordinances, ensure safety, and more.
This project provides safer connections to many destinations including Los Angeles River Path, the Metro Los Angeles Orange Line Winnetka Station and Bike Path, Pierce College, the West Valley Occupational Center, and the Woodland Hills Sunrise Little League Park. This project connects bicyclists with so many destinations while preserving existing traffic and turn lanes.
This free 7 week training course takes place on Tuesdays from July 9-August 20, 9-11:30am at Councilmember Blumenfield's District Office, located at 19040 Vanowen. This is a great opportunity to learn how to handle disasters when first responders aren't available or on short supply.
