The Winnetka Neighborhood Council held its annual Spring Clean on April 23 to coincide with Earth Day. Neighbors gathered at Winnetka Park to clean up.
In 1920, the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce requested that Charles Weeks come to the San Fernando Valley to establish a series of one-acre egg farms. The "poultry colony" Weeks created in the Winnetka area of the valley eventually developed into a small farming community named Weeks Poultry Colony. In 1922, Weeks renamed the colony Winnetka, after a farm he owned in Winnetka, Illinois.
On February 22, neighbors in Winnetka gathered with LAHSA for the Homeless Count. Working together, we went through our neighborhoods to see how many of our neighbors were experiencing homelessness and where they were located. It was nice to get to know some other neighbors while out and it was a short time commitment.
Congressman Brad Sherman, who represents Winnetka in the U.S. House of Representatives, joined the Winnetka Neighborhood Council Board meeting on March 8 to update the neighborhood on his work in Washington D.C.

We discussed that map K2.5 was not one that any of us were happy with and that the new map the City Council adopted on 11/9/2021, that kept us in District 3, was the map we as Neighborhood Council would like to see voted on.
