FREE EVENT Entertainment, Food, Drinks Stories and much, much more! The Museum of the San Fernando Valley is pleased to announce its grand opening event at its new location in Northridge.
The grand opening celebration will take place on November 8, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The offices and exhibit space is located on the southeast corner of Nordhoff St. and Wilbur Ave at Plaza de la Cordillera.
Dignitaries, local business leaders, Museum members, media and the general public will all enjoy a special afternoon and evening with inaugural exhibits and collections ranging from: Military Exhibit Artifacts from WWII, Korea and Vietnam will be on display.
Members from Wings Over Wendy’s Veterans group will be on hand to offer first-person accounts of their experiences, bravery, dedication and heroism. Westmore Family Collection The Westmore Family is the first family of Hollywood make-up. George Westmore, family patriarch, serve Hollywood as make-up artists in various capacities since he established Hollywood’s first make-up department in 1917. The Westmore’s have carried the tradition for four generations.
Incredible artifacts, posters and other industry items will be on display. The Westmore brothers became make-up artists for the likes of Rudolph Valentino, faces of Charles Laughton’s grotesque Hunchback of Notre Dame (for RKO), Bette Davis’ eyebrowless, almost bald, white-faced look in The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex Monte and for epic movies
